Ashes of former Star Trek star James Doohan were rocketed into space Saturday morning courtesy of a company that does memorial spaceflights.

Doohan, as well as the remains of former astronaut Gordon Cooper, went on a suborbital flight, the Associated Press said.

The rocket soon plummeted back to Earth.

Doohan, who played Scotty, died in 2005, Cooper in 2004.

Space Services Inc.

(www.memorialspaceflights.com) charges $495 to transport 1 gram of one person's remains.

Other deals include remains of two people.
