I got great publicity out of the event in Toronto and was invited onto BBC's Pot Black.

I got to the final in my first competition and that was me on the way.Most memorable sporting moment: A defining moment would have to be the 1985 world final against Steve Davis which I am constantly reminded of.

Everyone who saw it seems to remember where they were when it happened and has a story about it.

It was a great moment.

To win a 35-frame match after just 15 hours at the table to become world champion will always stay right up there.Worst sporting moment: Steve Davis beating me 9-0 in a ranking tournament.

To lose all nine frames was such a heavy defeat and very demoralising at the time, but I suppose I did get my revenge later.Sporting heroes: Growing up in Northern Ireland, George Best was a hero for so many people.

He was a genius on the pitch and one of the nicest fellows you could meet off it.

In the golfing world I admire Woosnam and the fact that he let me caddie for him at the Masters at Augusta will always stay with me.

Today, I would have to include Tiger Woods.
