Paul Collins McClatchy Newspapers (MCT) Running in the spring is a great way to get out of the winter exercise mode.

The leaves are coming out, it gets lighter earlier and stays light later, and you don't need to worry so much about frostbite.

But snow days may be replaced by rain days, which means a different strategy for dealing with the weather.

For readers in and from places like Seattle, this is nothing, but for those living east of the Cascades, having to deal with rain is an infrequent phenomenon.

Dressing for the weather is critically important.
