...A couple of years ago, I finally invested in a very nice pair of glasses so I could give my eyes a rest from my misuse of disposable contacts.Those glasses were single vision and frameless.I wanted to look as though I wasn't actually wearing glasses.

I'll admit I didn't want to look ...

oh, I'll just go ahead and say it: I didn't want to look OLD.

There, it's out.

I feared the glasses would age me.I only planned to wear them for a few weeks, but that turned into a few months and finally, permanently as I realized how much easier it was to merely take off the glasses as opposed to the removing and cleansing contacts routine.Last year, though, an optometrist said I was a borderline bifocal candidate.Oh, yeah?

Well then, I planned on teetering on that fence as I long I could before falling over to the dark, I mean, blurry side.I'm nearsighted so I can see things fine up close, but the farther away they are the blinder I am.If not for the beautiful invention of supersonic thin lenses, my glasses would feature the cliché Coke bottle-sized lenses.The thought of wearing a pair of glasses with an obvious line smack across the middle horrified me: Everyone will know!

They'll be able to see that I can't see!
